Sugar Cookies

Well, it is that time of year again where we break out the cookie cutters, the aprons, and lots of flour as Cathy and the kids make Christmas sugar cookies. The kids were having a blast when I came home from the office and saw them as you do below...but Cathy was getting a bit frustrated.

I know that it is hard for some of you to understand this if you live in the world of central air and you can control the temperature of your house, but here, we're dependant on good old-fashioned radiator heat controlled by the central government. So when it is getting down into the single digit temperatures at night, they go ahead and crank up the heat so you are a nice and balmy 85 - 90 degreees inside. Makes a lot of sense to us. But anyway...that's what was causing Cathy's frustration...the room was so hot the cookie dough was getting too warm too quickly to actually get the shapes onto the pan without getting all smooshed. So I got to enjoy the fun as well (after freezing the dough for 20 minutes).

We'll see how icing them goes tomorrow....stay tuned!
